How it works

This runs RMBG-1.4, an open image-segmentation model, directly in your browser using transformers.js and WebAssembly. The first time you use it, the model downloads once (about 45 MB) and is then cached, so every image after that is instant. Each photo is processed on your own machine, which is why there is no upload, no queue, and nothing private leaving your device.

Why on-device matters

Most background removers send your photo to a server, put it behind a sign-up, and stamp a watermark on the result. Running the model locally removes all of that. Your images stay yours, it works the same whether you do one or fifty, and there is no account to create. It even keeps working offline once the model is cached.

Getting the cleanest cutout

Clear subjects with decent contrast against the background give the best edges. For people, products, and pets it is excellent. After the cutout, you can leave it transparent for design work or drop a solid color behind it for a quick profile photo or store listing, then download the PNG.
